Day 15 (10.1.10 A Day)

Objective:
Students will begin independent reading;
students will finish research for project.

  • WARM-UP: Independent Reading (20 Minutes)
  • Research: Finish research and outline for project.




Homework:
  1. DUE Tuesday (10.5.10 A Day): Read pages 1-50 in your independent reading book.

Day 14 (9.30.10 B Day)

Objective:
Students will begin independent reading.

Class Activities
TURN ON COMPUTER
(You will need the computer for Mrs. Willingham's Library Tour)

  • WARM-UP: Essay Remediation:

    • Students turn in the remediation grammar work on sentences to receive their "Essay Rough Draft".
      • Note: Revised essay is due Friday.
        Note: This is the packet that was ONLY handed out on Monday in class to students who need to remediate their essay.
  • Mrs. Willingham will visit the class and lead the class in a "Virtual Libary Tour".
  • Students will watch book trailers online.
  • Students will make a list of 3-5 books that they are interested in reading. (15 minutes maximum)
    • Go to Blackboard
    • "Links" tab.
    • Go to "Ms. Fulmers Book Trailer" website.
    • Browse book trailers.
      • Please use headphones if you have them.
      • Otherwise, sound should be very low.
  • Class will go to the library and each student will check out a book.
  • Students will begin reading new library books in class.



Homework:
  1. DUE on Friday (10.01.10 A Day): Essay Remediation.

Day 14 (9.29.10 A Day)

Objective:
Students will begin independent reading.

TURN ON COMPUTER

    •  Go to Blackboard
    • “Links” tab
    • "Quizlet"
    • “My Recent Sets”
    • Choose: English I Lit. Terms Group 1
    • Play "Space Race"

and sentence models; complete research projects.

Class Activities
TURN ON COMPUTER
  • Warm-up: Go to Quizlet
       - Play "Scatter" game (10 minutes)

       - Email your results to tholmes@irvingisd.net (directions will be provided for taking a screenshot of your results)
               ---Press the "PRNT SCRN" button on your key board
               ---Copy
               ---Paste it into a Writer document
               ---Save as: Group 1 Scatter
               ---Subject of email should be "4th, 5th, or 8th Period"
  • Nouns Packet: Numbers 4, 5, and 6
  • Remediation: Subject and Sentence Models 1 & 2
  • Essay Remediation: Pass out remediation grammar work. (Once this is complete, then you will turn it in to receive your essay. Then, you may remediate the essay.)
  • Research Project:
- Finish all work related to sources, notes, and outline.
